Stroll-For-A-Goal Success!

Although final tabulations are still being completed, this year's Stroll-For-A-Goal raised well over 21000.  Thank you students for your work in obtaining pledges. Thank you PTO and all of our parents for their support in organizing and managing the logistics of the day.  Thank you community for supporting walkers and a fundraiser such as this one.  The amount raised this year exceeded our goal by 5000 dollars!  As part of the festivities, classrooms were also encouraged to develop and sport a theme for the day.  Students that raised 75 or more were given an opportunity to jump on a very cool bungee trampoline.  Others that exceeded 125 or more will be given a limo and pizza ride.  Although cold out, it was very enjoyable.

Sibley School Pep Fest 2013

It has taken a little while to get our video working correctly, but we had a lot of fun at our 2013 Pep Fest this year. In the week leading up to the pep fest, all of our students learned class cheers, and a choreographed dance in gym class. It was a great performance. Enjoy!

Sibley is a Minnesota Reward School

On Tuesday, results were made public statewide with regards to how schools are closing achievement gaps, accelerating students individual growth, and meeting expected proficiency targets.  I am proud to announce that Sibley has been designated as a Reward School.  This designation is only given to the top 15% of schools statewide receiving Federal Title 1 money.  Sibley made huge gains and moved from a previous year's score of 33.08% to 95.29%.  It is also important to note that Albert Lea is the only school district south of the Twin Cities metro area to have two schools identified as Reward Schools.  Lakeview also received this designation. How did this happen? We believe that learning doesn't happen by chance at Sibley, and we are continually committed to ensuring that ALL students achieve at the highest level possible. We also work tirelessly to build relationships that are positive and long lasting with families. Teachers are focused on student learning and are relentless in doing what they can to provide additional instruction and support whenever there is a need. In teams, our teachers work collaboratively to adjust instruction based on student feedback that is centered around essential learning outcomes. Go to Channel 6 for more information and a recent feature video about Sibley.

Referendum Renewel Information

On Monday, September 30th, Dr. Mike Funk spent time presenting information to our school community about the upcoming referendum renewal in November.  If you missed the meeting, please keep your eye on the public access channel as the presentation was recorded and will soon be available to the whole community.  In addition, I am available for questions if you have them and the following link provides other information you might find important and useful.  Thank you.
